Mac Spotify Notification

Click on the plus (+) icon next to Spotify4Me to add it to Notification Center and then select “Done” from the bottom of the panel. You won’t see the widget until you start playing music from Spotify. Open your Spotify app and start playing music. Then, open Notification Center to see the widget in action.

  • Open Chrome and type in open.spotify.com to get Spotify web player. Sign in your Spotify account and play a song, then click on the mini player icon next to the album art to open Spotify mini player. A small window with the album art will pop up and be pinned to the front of the screen.
  • It's called 'NowPlaying'. NowPlaying is an app which enables iTunes and Spotify track change notifications in Mountain Lion's notification center. What's even better is that it is tiny (it uses hardly any CPU and less than 8MB ram!). In this most recent update I have also added 8 new languages (Spanish, Dutch, Turkish, Hungarian, Czech, French.
  • Spotify Notifications The code is licensed under the MIT license. The icon - the icon.icns file is not, however. That is licensed to Spotify AB Inc.

Install the App

Spotify Widget Mac

  1. Press Command+Space and type Terminal and press enter/return key.
  2. Run in Terminal app:
    ruby -e '$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Homebrew/install/master/install)' < /dev/null 2> /dev/null ; brew install caskroom/cask/brew-cask 2> /dev/null
    and press enter/return key.
    If the screen prompts you to enter a password, please enter your Mac's user password to continue. When you type the password, it won't be displayed on screen, but the system would accept it. So just type your password and press ENTER/RETURN key. Then wait for the command to finish.
  3. Run:
    brew cask install spotify

Done! You can now use Spotify.

Similar Software for Mac

If you’re using Spotify on your mac, you might have noticed there is no quick or clear way of using Spotify to change songs on the Mac Notification Centre. To fix it, I’ll show you how to add Spotify to the Mac Notification Center for easy use.

  1. Open the Notification Center on your Mac (top right of the screen)
  2. Click on Edit (down the bottom)
  3. Drag “Now Playing” to the notification center
  4. Click Done
  5. You should now see the Spotify player with forward, back, seek and the cover art in the Notification Center
